2022 World Cup: Alphonso Davies joins the Canadian selection without being sure of being able to face Belgium

The Canadian Football Federation announced on Friday thatAlphonso Davies had joined the rest of the selection for the World Cup. The star player of the Canadian team, who plays in the Bayern Munich, continues his rehabilitation work following a hamstring injury. His presence in Canada’s first group game at the World Cup, against Belgium next Wednesday, is still uncertain.

The 22-year-old full-back suffered a hamstring injury in Bayern’s 2-3 victory over Hertha Berlin earlier this month. The injury proved serious, and the club had not yet released its player to join the Canadian team.

On the side of the Red Devils, Romelu Lukaku also suffered a hamstring injury. The top scorer in the history of the national team is currently still in rehabilitation and is likely to miss the game against Canada.

After the opening match against the Red Devils, Canada will face Croatia (November 27) and Morocco (December 1) in Group F.
