The Moroccan handball team lost to their Egyptian counterpart 19-30 on Sunday at Kinnarps Arena in Jönköping, Sweden, on the second day (group G) of the 2023 World Championship, co-hosted by Sweden and Poland .
National coach Noureddine Bouhaddioui’s men suffer their second poor performance in this competition, after their defeat against the American team by the score of 27 to 28, Friday during the first day.
The next outing of the national team will be against Croatia, this Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. The Moroccan team qualified for the 2023 World Cup by occupying third place at the last African Cup of Nations in Egypt, a rank it has occupied for the first time since 2006, in favor of the increase the number of participating selections to 32 in the Tunis edition.
This is the 8th participation of the Moroccan handball team in a world championship after 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2021. The best result of the Moroccan handball team in the world championship remains 17th place in the 1999 edition in Egypt.
