On social media, Xiaomi has officially confirmed the arrival of a new series of high-end smartphones in the coming days. The devices will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that Qualcomm showed off last nightand should bring other interesting new features such as almost completely revised designs.

While we expected the smartphones to be called Xiaomi 13, since the current generation was named Xiaomi 12, the Chinese manufacturer finally avoided giving any indication of the name of the series. In previous years, Xiaomi has so far never hidden the name of smartphones after the presentation of the new Snapdragon chips, which could indicate that a name change is on the horizon.

The Xiaomi 13 could become the Xiaomi 20

In its communication, Xiaomi only refers to “new flagships” when it talks about its next high-end smartphones. Several netizens have therefore suggested that this new series could skip number 13, which is bad luck for some people, and go directly to number 14. This would make Xiaomi smartphones consistent with the manufacturer’s overlay, since MIUI will also upgrade to version 14.

However, other netizens believe that Xiaomi will directly jump to the top ten, by naming its smartphones Xiaomi 20. The last time we saw a manufacturer do this was Samsung with its Galaxy S20. Anyway, we should know more about it soon, since Xiaomi should announce the date of the official launch within the next few days.

Prior to the presentation, the Chinese manufacturer has already announced what we could expect. According to him, thanks to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the next high-end smartphones will be the most enduring in its history. They should thus correct the autonomy problems encountered by the Xiaomi 12 because of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.
