The Brussels resident, who has been playing for the Emirati club Shabab Al-Ahli since September, was one of four reservists in Roberto Martinez’s selection of 26 players. He is not part of the selection. It was with reserve status that he made the short trip from Dubai to Kuwait, where the Belgians will play a friendly match against Egypt on Friday.

Jan Vertonghen is injured in the calf, but his injury is not too serious. After the meeting against the Pharaohs, the Devils will head for Doha, the capital of Qatar, where the World Cup will begin on Sunday. Belgium will enter the competition on November 23 against Canada.
