An Apple Watch Series 8 saved the life of a woman with a fatal heart problem

In the UK, a man lent his new Apple Watch Series 8 to his mother who was not feeling well. The connected watch then detected a potentially fatal heart rhythm disorder. The woman was able to go to the emergency room and be treated.

The Apple Watch Series 8 has only been available since September 16, but it has already saved a life. Apple smartwatches regularly save lives thanks to their ECG function which detects heart rhythm disturbances and their emergency function which calls for help in the event of a serious accident. Recently, an Apple Watch has detected a fatal tumor in its owner. This time it’s the all-new Apple Watch Series 8 who proved capable of saving a life.

In the UK, a man named Jason had the idea to lend his new Apple Watch Series 8 to his mother who was not feeling well. The connected watch immediately detected a life-threatening heart rhythm disorder. Earlier this year, an Indian dentist also narrowly escaped death thanks to his Apple Watch. He had a clogged artery, but he hadn’t realized it until his watch detected an abnormality.

His mother wouldn’t have survived the rest of the day without the Apple Watch

My parents were going away for the weekend to Chester when I got a call from my dad saying my mum wasn’t feeling well at all. He said she felt very dizzy like her heart was racing – I told them to stop and I would be with them as soon as possible explained Jason. He then joined his parents as quickly as possible.

Arriving there, Jason noticed that his mother seemed to be doing much better. He took his blood pressure and everything seemed relatively normal. Her mother assured her that she was fine and not to worry. Nevertheless, Jason still wanted to lend him his Apple Watch Series 8 to record an electrocardiogram. The Apple Watch then detected atrial fibrillation and advised medical assistance as soon as possible. ” I did three more ECGs to rule out any false positives, but each reported atrial fibrillation with a resting heart rate over 160 bpm Jason clarified.

Jason therefore accompanied his mother to the emergency room where she was able to receive immediate treatment. He stated that: ” the specialists caring for her said that without the Apple Watch, there’s a good chance she wouldn’t have survived the rest of the day “. Less than a week after its release, the Apple Watch Series 8 has therefore already managed to save a life. In addition to its very important ECG function, the watch also detects car accidents and ovulation.
