The expected M2 Pro and M2 Max chips
The Cupertino company could unveil new products via its press area on January 17. This week, Apple reportedly held briefings with influencers and selected media representatives, according to 9to5mac. The announcement could thus concern new MacBook Pro M2 models of 14 and 16 inches. An embargo is expected to be announced for testing until Monday, January 23. Plans that remain, however, at the mercy of Apple’s marketing strategy, which could delay the announcement if necessary.
For several months, internal sources have been talking about the arrival of more powerful MacBook Pros with improved connectivity. The M2 Pro and M2 Max chips could appear, with increased power compared to the previous generation. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg mentioned a few months ago chips with up to 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores.
The arrival of wifi 6E?
With the potential announcement of new Macs, wifi 6E could also make an appearance. Thanks to a compatible router, the MacBook Pro could thus use the 6 GHz band to communicate. A frequency associated with a new standard that allows more data to be transmitted, more quickly. Throughput is thus improved and congestion on the network avoided. In theory, WiFi 6E could transmit up to 10.5 Gb/s of data. Current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros only support the Wi-Fi 6 standard, which only uses 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies.
Combining performance and connectivity, the new computers that Apple could announce seem to be aimed at an audience of performance-conscious professionals. Ideal machines for audiovisual professions, where power and speed are necessary to edit videos and upload them.
