Arsenal, leaders of the Premier League, formalized on Friday the recruitment of Belgian attacking midfielder Leandro Trossard from Brighton on a “long-term” contract for the sum of 30 million euros.
After failing to attract the Ukrainian prodigy Mykhailo Mudryk, finally recruited by his London rival Chelsea, the leader of the Premier League has chosen the 28-year-old Belgian, who is much more experienced and already knows the English championship.
“It’s the result of a good job by everyone at the club to finalize the signing of Leandro. He is a versatile player with great technical faculties, intelligence and a great experience of the Premier League. League and international level,” Gunners coach Mikel Arteta told the club’s website.
The Belgian player is an attacking reinforcement of choice for the London club which is chasing its first league title since 2004.
He could make his debut for Arsenal, who are five points clear at the top of the table, in Sunday’s clash against Manchester United.
