CAN U23 qualifiers: Gambia’s list to challenge Burkina Faso

The Gambia is preparing to challenge Burkina Faso for the first round of the CAN U23 qualifiers. For this deadline, coach Abdou Jammeh made his list public this Sunday. It is with a group of 24 Scorpions that they will travel to Cotonou.

It is in Cotonou that Gambia launches its race to qualify for the African Cup of Nations under 23 years. The Scorpions will face their counterparts from Burkina Faso for a double confrontation. This during the first round of the playoffs. The first leg is played in Benin on September 21, before the return leg scheduled in Morocco on the 27th of the same month. It is a crucial meeting for the Gambians who go into battle with a battalion of 24 soldiers.

The list includes 12 players from the foreign legion. The team leaves Banjul on Monday for Cotonou where Burkina’s home game will be played. In addition to head coach Abdou Jammeh, the players will be assisted by former international Bowyer Gibba (Abdou Njie) and Modou Lamin
Nyasi. They will be with another former Gambia international, Christopher Allen, as goalkeeping coach, and a former Manchester United striker, Arthur Gomez, as team manager.
