The last bulwark of Wydad Athletic Club (WAC), Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti, was very optimistic, a few days before the start of the next edition of the Club World Cup which will take place in Morocco from February 1 to 11.
“We are determined to create a sensation in the World Club… We will try to play the leading roles and why not seize the supreme consecration” he launched in a statement given to the Moroccan press.
As a reminder, the winner of the last edition of the CAF Champions League will open the ball on February 4, with a first confrontation against the Saudi club Al-Hilal, counting for the second round.
In the event of qualification, the Casablancan club will find, on February 07 in the semi-finals, the Brazilian club Flamengo who won the last edition of the Copa Libertadores.
In addition to the WAC, Africa will be represented in this World Cup by the Egyptian ogre, Al-Ahly, the unfortunate finalist of the 2022 Champions League.
As a reminder, two African clubs have reached the final of this game in the past, namely TP Mazembé (DRC) in 2010 and Raja (Morocco) in 2013.
