Draw between Morocco and Thailand

The Atlas Lions started the game well by opening the scoring through Saad Knia, following a very well orchestrated attack. Afterwards, the proteges Hicham Dguig tried to raise the level in the hope of worsening the score but the Thais quickly equalized. The minutes that followed were a real showdown between the two teams, each trying to take the lead. The Atlas Lions, thanks to a smooth and well-organized game, created the most chances in a more intense second half. Shortly after the restart, the Thais scored their second goal with a powerful shot, but the Moroccans did not let go and ended up snatching a precious draw at the very end of the game thanks to an achievement by Abdelattif Fati.

“We dominated the match and created the most chances,” said Adil Sayeh, assistant coach of the Moroccan futsal team, noting that the opposing team’s goals were scored against the run of play. Sayeh indicated, in a statement to MAP after the meeting, that the team was not complete, since several players have still not joined Thailand. “The team will be complete for the match scheduled for Monday against Mozambique”, he assured, believing that starting the championship with a draw gives the Atlas Lions motivation to win in the upcoming meetings.

This friendly tournament, organized in the Thai capital from September 11 to 16, has the participation of six selections divided into two pools. The Moroccan selection is housed in Group A alongside Thailand and Mozambique. Group B is made up of Iran, Vietnam and Finland. This tournament is organized by Thailand in preparation for the Asian futsal championship, scheduled for September 25 to October 20 in Kuwait. It will allow the Atlas Lions to measure themselves against high-caliber teams in the perspective of the next deadlines.
