Elton John in concert Friday at the White House

Singer Elton John will be hosted by the Bidens at the White House on Friday, where he will perform a concert to “celebrate the unifying and restorative power of music,” the executive said in a statement.

US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden also want to “salute the life and work” of the British pop legend, it is specified.

The White House will invite “those who make history every day” to the concert, including teachers, caregivers, frontline workers, students, LGBT+ rights activists and people advocating for better mental health care.

The president and his wife will deliver speeches, their departments said.

Elton John, who celebrated his 75th birthday last spring, is known for his planetary hits such as “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, “Your Song”, “Rocket Man” or “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”, but also for its commitment to associations, in particular in the fight against AIDS.

He has sold over 300 million records worldwide.
