La Botola ranked 24th best world championship

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has just unveiled the ranking of the best national championships in the world for the year 2022. La Botola is positioned in 24th place worldwide and 3rd in Africa.

The IFFHS, like every year, has published the new ranking of the best championships in the world, comprising a total of 80 championships from the five continents, and Botola is one of them.

Unsurprisingly, the Brazilian Serie A was voted the best league in the world, registering a score of 1181 points and leading for the second time in the history of the annual IFFHS ranking launched since 1991.

In second position is the English Premier League for the fifth time in 6 years (1st in 2019), followed by the Spanish La Liga, which gains a place and overtakes the BUNDESLIGA while the Italian Serie A loses 2 ranks but overtakes Ligue 1 French (6th).

The Portuguese Liga Primeira, for its part, was ranked 7th, ahead of the Dutch Eredivisie (8th), the Primera Division of Argentina (9th), or the Professional Division of Paraguay which closes the TOP 10.

As for the African championships, the Moroccan Botola, still on the podium since 2018, is in 24th place in the international ranking and 3rd on the continent, behind the Egyptian Premier League which marked its best world ranking since 1991 by positioning itself 13th in the world and 1st in Africa, a place it has kept since 2020 and the Algerian Ligue 1 which enters the TOP 20 for the first time (20th).

The K League Classic of the Republic of Korea has been the best league in Asia since 2011 (18th) ahead of the J1 League of Japan (30th) and the Roshn Saudi League of Saudi Arabia (40th).

In the CONCACAF zone, Mexico’s Liga MX still tops the league standings at 26th, followed by La Liga Nacional and Costa Rica’s Primera Division (37th) which retains a place in the Central America and Mexico trio. north since 2011.

In Oceania, the New Zealand Premiership is the leader for the third consecutive year and is ahead of Ligue 1 de Tahiti and the Super League of New Caledonia.
