The spectacle of “La Tribu de Magda”, holds a special place among the other regional historical spectacles. A success linked to its bias, more dreamlike and poetic than historical. If the trend should continue again this year, the association behind this iconoclastic proposal, takes stock of the performances given last August.
Well positioned in the first half of August, the seven planned evenings were held (without rain), with good attendance. And 1,050 entries were recorded. A very marked increase in attendance compared to 2019. “A partly renewed, dynamic and committed group, with various talents, evolved in a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. The rehearsals, although numerous and planned quite early this year, have was led very efficiently by our director for a show that lives up to our heritage and our objectives”, highlights Marylène Aragon-Dupont, president of the association.
The spectators appreciated the scenario, which, once again, incorporated novelties here and there. Frédéric Claude’s dynamic and very rhythmic staging, and a professional soundtrack that is always very buoyant and engaging, produced by Spilia production (which also produces the soundtrack for Foix Terre d’Histoire), have created the ideal conditions for raising still the level of this live show.
But we should also note the special effects including giant decorations, and the integration of animals, including three horses from the Taoussoulet equestrian center in Aigues-Juntes, two donkeys from Cap del Pouech du Mas-d’Azil and scenes from animated prehistoric animals, which highlighted all the creativity of “The Magda Tribe”.
Although having experienced some problems, the light and sound control, led by the company Decosceno Toulouse, made very timely and effective changes. The many costumes also highlighted the extras, while giving the illusion of a very large team, each taking on several roles and the genius of the staging did the rest.
And under the aegis of the French Federation of Historical Festivals and Shows (FFFSH), the association has been supported by the municipality of Mas-d’Azil, by the Departmental Council of Ariège and by the Tourist Office Arize-Leze.
All the work carried out by volunteers and paid professionals has enabled “La Tribu de Magda” to obtain the FFFSH label in January 2023.
