Eliminated from the handball world championship, co-organized by Sweden and Poland, the Atlas Lions will face Algeria, Tunisia and Macedonia in the President’s Cup.
The Atlas Handball Lions were eliminated from the first round of the world handball championship, co-hosted by Sweden and Poland, after three defeats against the United States (27-28), Egypt ( 19-30) and Croatia (24-36).
The national team is therefore returned to the President’s Cup and will face Tunisia, Algeria and Macedonia in the group stage. The other pool is made up of Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, Chile and South Korea.
As a reminder, the Moroccan team qualified for the 2023 World Cup by occupying third place at the last African Cup of Nations in Egypt. A rank she has held for the first time since 2006.
This is the 8th participation of the Moroccan handball team in a world championship after 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2021. Its best result remains the 17th place obtained during the 1999 edition in Egypt .
