Mustapha Belkouch will exhibit his paintings from February 1 to March 31, in the Astragale room of the Marie-Rouanet media library.
Born in 1951 in Casablanca, he arrived in France at the age of 17 to pursue a career as a metallurgist. In 1985, he moved with his family to Montpellier and devoted himself to painting as an autodidact only in 1995. Until 2005, he painted figurative scenes from his native country, Morocco, then opted for a more creative expression of abstract landscapes mixing oil and acrylic for material effects.
“At the beginning of the 2010s, I started to practice engraving and to make art books with poets…” In addition to this work as a painter and engraver, the artist cared about the transmission of his technical skills to so-called audiences. “prevented”. He obtained in 2019 the DU “Training in the patient-caregiver partnership”, with a thesis entitled “Perception: how to bring the patient to his own representations from a painted work?”.
This allowed him to co-host workshops on a voluntary basis: “Speaking around painting” as part of the ETP program (therapeutic patient education) and polypathologies at the Montpellier University Hospital and in 2021-2022 at the Alès care center.
We no longer count his exhibitions, individual, collective, art books and magazines, associated with writers and publishers… The opening of his exhibition will be held on friday 3 february at 18 h 30.
