Nigeria’s first commercial vessel arrives at new Lagos deep-sea port – Xinhua

ABUJA, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) — Nigeria on Sunday saw the first commercial vessel anchor at its new deep-water port in the country’s economic capital, Lagos, maritime authorities said.

This port “is ready to offer maritime services for smooth port operations”, the Nigerian Ports Authority said in a brief statement, after a container ship from the French group CMA CGM docked in the port of Lekki, built by China Harbor Engineering Company.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to kick off business operations at the state-of-the-art site on Monday. The deep water port of Lekki is the largest in Nigeria and one of the largest in West Africa. End
