Canadian prospect Owen Beck has been impressing since being selected 33rd in July. Sunday’s game against the Kingston Frontenacs was no exception, as the 18-year-old center scored a hat trick, including the game-winning goal in overtime, in a 4-3 win over the Mississauga Steelheads.
Midway through the second period, Beck fired a perfect shot on the power play to put his team on the score. Less than two minutes later, Beck added with a shot that deflected off a defender before landing in the back of the net.
Eventually, Beck made a drive up from his own zone in overtime which was stopped by the keeper, but he ended hostilities with an accurate shot into the top corner.
The hope of the Habs has been on fire since his return to the OHL this season with a collection of 22 points, including 13 goals, in 15 games. His performances place him in second place among the scorers of the Ontario junior circuit.
