“Sport and Handicap” is the theme of an international symposium organized on Tuesday in Marrakech on the sidelines of the 6th International Moulay El Hassan meeting scheduled for September 15 to 17 at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

Enhanced by the participation of international experts in the field of sports medicine, this meeting addressed the issue of injury, management of athletics during recovery, and re-athletics.

The speakers at this meeting emphasized the importance of early diagnosis of certain symptoms of parathletes to facilitate their treatment and their preparation for major international competitions, noting the important role played by the medical staff in the context of performance. performed by para-athletes.

In this context, the participants discussed certain constraints that athletes with specific needs may suffer from, including recurrent shoulder injuries in athletes using wheelchairs as well as certain skin and dietary disorders in this category of athletes in addition to management of athletics during his convalescence, and his re-athleticization.

In a statement to M24, MAP’s continuous news television channel, the president of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for Persons with Disabilities (FRMSPH), Hamid El Aouni, stressed the importance of monitoring and medical support for athletes with disabilities in order to enable them to achieve great performances, indicating that the FRMSPH provides high-level medical monitoring to Moroccan athletes to prepare them well for international competitions.

Morocco is working to support new developments in medical technology relating to sports medicine, he added, stressing that this conference aims to share experiences and expertise between the countries participating in the 6th International Moulay El Hassan meeting. .

The coordinator of this conference and manager of national basketball teams, Antony Joubert, noted that this conference addressed several issues of interest to athletes with disabilities, including healthy nutrition for athletes and support for the athlete. during his injury, the maintenance program during the injury, the re-athleticization of the athlete and the mental preparation during this convalescence.

Placed under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the 6th edition of the Moulay El Hassan international para-athletics meeting is part of the series of Grands Prix, under the aegis of World Para Athletics.

Organized by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, this sporting event will see the participation of around 400 athletes representing 40 African, Asian, Europe and the Americas, in addition to 105 referees.
