Swiss Re appoints new chief investment officer

The Swiss Re group has found internally the employee who will succeed its Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Guido F├╝rer, who will retire after a quarter of a century of good and loyal service with the Zurich reinsurer.

Currently co-head of the Client Solutions & Analytics unit in Swiss Re’s wealth management division, Velina Peneva will take up her new role on April 1, when she will also join the group’s general management.

Joining Swiss Re in 2017, she previously worked for Bain & Company in the United States, Australia and Switzerland, where she was notably in charge of private placement and institutional investors.

The new CIO brings “a combination of in-depth knowledge of the financial markets, strategic and investment skills, proven leadership qualities and a well-established network in the sector”, listed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Christian Mumenthaler, quoted in the press release released on Monday.
