Tangier: preview screening of the film “Morjana” by Jamal Souissi

The association specified, in a press release, that it is organizing the preview screening of the film Morjana, which won the prize for the best Arab film at the 27th edition of the Alexandria festival, following its programming at the Cinéma Alcazar from February 1, and on January 28 from 4:30 p.m., in the presence of its director.

The screening of this film aims to consecrate the distinguished cultural presence of the city of Detroit and to highlight the rich cinematographic history of the city, said the association, which ensures the organization of cinematographic events at the historic Alcazar cinema. , in partnership with civil society.

The film tells the story of “Morjana”, played by Hanaa Bouab, who gave herself body, heart and soul to realize her dream. She gets there at the beginning by putting on her opera and the rehearsals which are going well. The day of the show has arrived. But, an incident on stage spoiled the party.

The dreams of “Morjana” fly away behind the smoke of a fire that has devoured everything. Life turns its back on him by finding himself in a delicate situation. Single mother, the main character fought against the gaze of society and its traditions. But, despite all this, she continues on her way, singing. This is how “Morjana” was able to overcome her problems. She realizes her dream. Hope, life, art, perseverance are indeed the letters of nobility of the film.

It should be noted that the “Alcazar” Cinema, located in the old medina of Tangier, reopened its doors in March 2022, after rehabilitation and enhancement works, with a budget of 8 million dirhams, which have enabled this artistic gem to regain its former splendor and luster.

The “Alcazar” cinema, inaugurated at the beginning of the 20th century, is one of the first 3 cinemas in Tangier, alongside those of “Vox” and “Capitol”. These halls were also considered film schools.
