The astronomy club in seventh heaven

“Finally a year without confinement” launched the president Patrick Wullaert of the Oratorian Astro club, during the general assembly, which took place last Saturday, at the Carnot foyer.

The association continues to grow, since it now has 24 members from all over the sector and a qualified astronomer, Kamel Khedachi, who won an award in a national astronomy journal thanks to a snapshot taken from the town. The office is renewed.

After a round table where the members were able to present themselves, the president recalled the important decisions taken within the club. The association has invested in a new computer to control the QHY camera during observations, has purchased a small guide telescope to facilitate the work of amateur astronomers. The renovation project for the SW100 Ed glasses offered to the club will soon be carried out by a German optical craftsman.

The club continues its indoor meetings every other Saturday and observations, every other Friday evening. It has substantial equipment and qualified facilitators to make astronomy known in a different way.

The many outings and events organized in 2022 have allowed the club to gain a good reputation. New municipalities such as Saint-Benoit-sur-Loire, Nogent-sur-Vernisson, Cernoy-en-Berry call on it to organize astronomical encounters.

The projects promise to be numerous and diversified. Tuesday, October 25 will be held the observation of the partial eclipse of the Sun at the Anne-de-Beaujeu center in Gien from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In parallel, an animation with the children will be on the program.

In the Loiret and elsewhere

A trip to the Ile-de-France region is organized on November 11, 12 and 13 for the meetings of the sky and space at the city of sciences in La Villette. Monday, December 5, an observation of the occultation of Uranus by the moon will take place from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. on the ground in Ouzouer. Mid-December and in January, the curious will be able to observe the showers of shooting stars in Cernoy. An event at the Château de La Bussière is planned for February 2023.
