While the new version of the PS5 is expected in the next few months, it seems that Sony’s plans have changed.
A new PS5 is coming in 2023
The rumor, which has been insistent for several months, is about to be realized: a new model of PS5 will see the light of day this yearthree years after the beginning of the marketing of the console.

With this timing, the Japanese manufacturer is following the same roadmap as the PS4, whose PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro versions were both released 3 years after the standard PS4 was released. But, twist, it would seem – according to journalist Tom Henderson – that this new PS5 does not concern either the PS5 Slimnor the PS5 Pro. Will these consoles arrive one day? Nothing is less sure !
On all the PS5 Pro/Slim rumors – I don’t think it’s a pro or slim, My understanding is that it’s just “gen 2” of the regular PS5.
The normal PS5 will cease production at the end of this year and the new model will start in April and begin selling in September.

The PS6 rather than the PS5 Pro?
Launched in November 2020, the PlayStation 5 will undergo an expected facelift, without really knowing the real changes brought by this new version, which, still according to Tom Henderson, would look more like a “second generation PS5”, with technical characteristics almost similar to the first model.
The journalist also specifies that the new PS5 will reduce production and shipping costs because Sony can only produce one console at a time, who would be the one that leaked several months ago.
Still responding to ongoing rumors in a series of tweets, the often knowledgeable reporter felt he wasn’t sure if the PS5 Pro would arrive anytime soon: “All I can say is that I’ve heard more about the PS6 than the PS5 Pro.” Has the latter been abandoned by Sony? Will we have to wait for the release of the PS6 to get a graphic leap on our consoles? It will probably take a few more years to find out.
In the same theme:
As for if there’s going to be a Pro version this generation, I’m not entirely sure. It doesn’t feel like the regular version has been fully utilized yet and probably won’t be on mass until the end of the year. All I can say is that I’ve heard more about the PS6 than a PS5 Pro.
