the disturbing trailer of the new Shyamalan

M. Night Shyamalan’s new film, “Knock At The Cabin”, is unveiled with a generous and mysterious first trailer. We find there in particular Jonathan Groff, Rupert Grint and especially Dave Bautista.

M. Night Shyamalan continues

M.Night Shyamalan will have experienced a roller coaster in his career. Quickly noticed with Sixth Sense (1999), his films with clever reversals of situation fascinated a large audience. Only one or two failures in Hollywood are enough to put everything back into play. This was the case for him. And after after-earth (2013), badly received despite a not so catastrophic box office result, the director had to return to low-budget productions to let his writing and his creativity speak first. The Visit (2015) restarted the machine and allowed it to chain the shootings.

So after Old (2021), the filmmaker quickly got down to his next film, Knock at the Cabin. In this one, we will see a young girl and her two fathers being taken hostage in their remote cabin in the middle of nature. The four strangers who burst in and sequester them have a very specific goal: to avoid the apocalypse. For this, it is this family that has been chosen to make a crucial decision that will determine the fate of humanity.

Knock at the Cabin unfolds

A very strange pitch just like the trailer (in one article) which was unveiled by Universal. In these images, we find Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge who interpret both parents. Facing them are Abby Quinn, Rupert Grint, Nikki Amuka Bird and especially Dave Bautista. Before showing the quartet, the trailer increases the pressure and installs a disturbing climate. All the more disturbing when these strangers knock on the door of the cabin.

M. Night Shyamalan knows how to manipulate us and we suspect that Knock at the Cabin will have many other things to reveal than a “simple hostage-taking”. Note the choice to propose, a priori, a camera in this chalet. Before that, Old was already a kind of camera, but outside, on a beach where time passes a little too quickly.

To discover Knock at the Cabin, you will have to surrender in theaters February 1, 2023. Before that, on Twitter, it is possible to participate in a little game against a like of the filmmaker’s post…
