The revival of the automotive industry is at the center of the 7th edition of the Automobile meetings Tangier-Med (AMT), which will be held from October 26 to 28 in Tangier, under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.
Organized by the Moroccan Association for the Automotive Industry and Construction (AMICA), under the theme “What strategy for the revival of the automotive industry sector”, this edition will be an opportunity to present the latest innovations in the automotive field and investment and trade opportunities between Morocco and Europe.
This event, which constitutes an unmissable professional meeting at the level of the North region, is intended to be an exhibition space for the know-how of Moroccan players in the automotive sector, in addition to being a meeting point between operators of the Euro-Mediterranean automotive industry, reports MAP.
“The 2022 edition of the AMT will be an opportunity to take stock of several topics that are topical in the Moroccan automotive industry, in this case the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic crisis, the change in Supply Chain, the difficulties of supply and the impact of the high cost of energy on the Moroccan industrial sector”, underlined the vice-president of AMICA, Rachid Machou, during a press conference devoted to the presentation of the event program.
“This is the first edition after the forced break imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Mr. Machou, adding that this crisis has certainly slowed down the upward trend in this industry, but has also allowed the sector to get back on a good footing and to develop further.
During this meeting, held at the headquarters of the Tangier-Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA), the official noted that the new investments illustrate the resilience of the Moroccan industrial sector after the Covid-19 pandemic and reflect an act of confidence in Moroccan production platforms, which are expected to experience growth in favor of global industrial leaders, noting that the automotive industry in Morocco has managed to increase its figures in a context that has been aggravated by the pandemic, promising to maintain the momentum of the sector .
In this regard, he considered that the main challenges posed are linked in particular to the arrival of electric vehicles and their impact on the Moroccan industrial landscape, stressing the importance of training human resources to effectively address , this strategic shift for the national automotive industry.
“The choice of Tangier to host such an event is not fortuitous”, affirmed the organizers, noting that the city, now emblematic for the automotive industry in Morocco, has offered for several years all the platforms and facilities that make its notoriety.
On the program for this edition are meetings between professionals, as well as conferences and thematic round tables led by experts from the automotive sector. This event will bring together an audience made up of the major players in the sector at national and international levels, including car manufacturers based in Morocco, and tier 1 and 2 equipment manufacturers present in the Kingdom, in addition to logisticians and representatives of design offices. and Moroccan administrations in relation to the automotive sector.
It will also make it possible to emphasize Morocco’s desire to engage in the global dynamic of the fight against climate change, through the implementation of decarbonization actions in the automotive industry.
This meeting took place in the presence of economic operators, industrialists, AMICA officials and event partners.
