The Senegalese coach, like his players, does not intend to have any complexes against England next Sunday in the round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
“We know that it’s a new championship which will start with the knockout matches. I think Senegal are used to playing this kind of game. For the moment, we will focus on recovering the boys, ”said Aliou Cissé, whose remarks were relayed by local media.
“At this level of competition, there is no preference. The best teams are there. If we want to go to the end of the competition, we must be ready to play against any team. These are cleaver matches that await us. You win, you continue, you lose, you go home. There is no more calculation to do. The teams are equal…”, said the Senegalese technician.
He said that this victory against Ecuador is that of all the people who have ever served the national team.
“We can dedicate this victory to many people. Bouba (Diop) left us two years ago. We dedicate this victory to him, but also to Bruno Metsu who led us for the first time in the World Cup, it was in 2002. I am also thinking of Jules François Bocandé, El Hadj Malick Sy “Souris”. People who have long worked for the success of Senegalese football. This year, we had to play complicated and decisive matches like the CAN final against Egypt, but also the World Cup play-offs against the same Egyptian team. We have a collective experience which allows us today to better prepare for this kind of match…”, added the technician of the Lions of Teranga.
The Lions of Senegal have no preference on the opponent they will meet in the round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, underlined, for his part, striker Iliman Ndiaye.
“We have no preferences. We will be ready for the next opponent,” he said in the mixed zone at the end of the match against Ecuador.
