Willow (Disney +): the series adapted from the cult film delivers new images

Available November 30, 2022 on the Disney+ streaming platformseries Willow has just unveiled many new images, including a making-of and a first extract. The program is the sequel to the cult film of the same name released in 1988.

The return of Warwick Davis

Series Willow propels us into a magical world where wizards, trolls and other mystical creatures live in harmony. But when demons and the forces of evil reappear, an unlikely group of heroes led by the magician Willow will embark on a dangerous quest to remote lands.

With two weeks to go, Lucasfilm has released a making-of video that jogs our memories of the original film and takes us to the filming locations in Wales.

This series in eight episodes will mark the return of Warwick Davis, main actor of the film directed by Ron Howard (Apollo 13), which also included Val Kilmer in the cast. When it was released in 1988, Willow had mixed reviews and a modest success at the box office ($137 million on a budget of $35 million). However, this film has gained cult status over the years and has become a significant possession of Lucasfilm, which also owns Star Wars and IndianaJones.

Created and written by Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars Story), this new series promises to be a sequel to the original story, as well as an introduction to a new generation of characters and actors. In the casting, we note the presence of Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No way home), Erin Kellyman (Falcon and the Winter Soldier) or even Ellie Bamber (The snake).
